CDwriter software

The client is a Fortune 500 company and is a leading supplier of medical equipments, and maintenance service solutions. In the medical field it is a necessity for all medical equipments to be DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) and IHE (Integrating the Health Care) compliant. The client needed a reliable and robust backup CD Writer application for storing image/data files from Medical Equipments. For preventing incompatibilities it has to strictly follow DICOM standards. The software was required to run on Windows 2000/2003/XP platforms.

NeST Solution

NeST engineers did a detail study of various DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) formats and CD Writer file formats and proposed a solution. PDI (Portable Data for Imaging) integration profile of DICOM required presence of directory known as DICOMDIR and the physical formatting following strictly the ISO 9660 Level 1 format. In addition, to DICOM compliant formats NeST provided ISO-Joliet CDROM-XA Multi-session formats also. Test Matrix included various machine configurations and SCSI and ATAPI CD drives. To ensure conformance, CDs written were tested in Unix, Linux, MAC and Windows platforms and using standard tools like WinISO, ISObuster and cross-verification of fields with standards.
